Between A Rock And A Heartbreak

Between A Rock And A Heartbreak

It's here! Canary Mine’s newest album was released in April 2012. Many of the new tracks reflect the good ol’ country music the miners love so much, while others rock hard and tickle the funny bone just like the albums of yore.
Beginnings

Beginnings

Well, we’re pretty nearly sold out of our albums, Bitter, Better Happy, Horny and Maybe Yo’ Momma, and Live Tear in the Palindrome. So in preparation for our 2009 tour we decided to print up a cd with a selection of great tracks from all three. With a couple of cool remixes too, this album is the perfect introduction to Canary Mine.

X-Traordinary X-Mas X-Travaganza

Ever since the inception of Canary Mine, we’ve talked about making a winter holidays record. In 2007 we did it! Some of our favorite X-mas folk include David Bowie and Bing Crosby, Boris Karloff and Burl Ives, Scrooge McDuck and Canadian Tire.

’Tis the season to hustle and bustle, but it’s not all about mall cues and traffic. It’s about how one feels when surrounded by friends and family, safe in the warmth of a loving home. Download our music and blare us at your next X-mas shindig.

Download Album: [ZIP, 16 MB]. All 4 songs included.

Live Tear From The Palindrome

On a lazy Sunday afternoon in September 2006, us Canaries drove down to the University of Waterloo to play a live-to-air broadcast on CKMS.

Taken from two sessions, one on-air, one off, we put together a greatest hits of Canary Mine songs, as they sound in a live setting.  Each song was recorded in one take, live off the floor in the Palindrome studio.

MAYBE YO’ MOMMA

was pressed just in time for CM’s July 2005 tour, but western Canada loved it so much, it sold out! So, friends... we cooked up a second batch! Order it Now.

This new album reflects the band’s own evolution into a supercharged, upbeat live show, while keeping with the same character, humour and variety that fans love. MAYBE YO’ MOMMA has attracted media attention from the likes of View Magazine, Echo Weekly, and radio stations such as CFMU 93.3 FM, where the album debuted at number 1!

Bitter, Better, Happy ,Horny

Bitter, Better, Happy, Horny

“It’s always important to have a good first impression, and the opening salvo of Canary Mine’s debut album, Bitter, Better, Happy ,Horny, certainly accomplishes that.”
-The Record (Kitchener, Ontario)

“The disc traffics in humourous rap-based tunes which layer harmonies atop an almost scat-like base.”
-Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Alberta)

Released in May 2004, this first album is the perfect amalgamation of gangsta rap and romance. The tracks include traditional folk-hop crowd-pleasers The Toast and Canadian Strip, drunken love songs Randy and Wrong In Taiwan, "memorably expletive-laden" Rock Song, "almost operatic" Tech-E and more. Bitter, Better, Happy ,Horny is an honest portrayal of the early Canary Mine sound, the sound that carried the band on its first successful tour across western Canada, winning great new friends and new audiences.

LIVE from a suburban basement

Live From A Suburban Basement

is James’ adventure in recording Canary Mine rehearsals live off the floor from his parents’ basement in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. This cd is a compilation of some early Canary Mine tunes in their most primitive, pre-Maybe Yo’ Momma forms. The album was available free at live shows in 2004 for a limited time, so if you’ve got one, you’re a lucky duck!
